More than a million Australians are suspected of having an undiagnosed thyroid condition.
One in 10 Aussies have a thyroid problem and 70 per cent are women.
"Thyroid disease is such an insidious disease, it can start off with hardly anything and then develop. Instead of just saying to a woman go and lose some weight, take an anti-depressant, think about thyroid and test for thyroid. If in doubt get checked," Mrs Garside said.
